Matthew 18:20 (NKJV): For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.
Jesus’ words remind us of the power of community. Sure, we can try to do things on our own. That was the song of my life for a long time: just let me do it myself. For a long time, I was convinced that I was smart enough for anything; that I was strong enough for anything; that I was capable of anything. Life and the world have a good way of teaching you how much you are not the hot stuff you thought you were. Things are going to happen to us in life that are going to knock us to our knees. There are things that are going to happen to us that knock us off our feet altogether. There are times when life will hit harder than Ali or Tyson. It is in these times that we need community. There are times when we need to accomplish something for the kingdom that we cannot do alone. Those times call for being in community. Jesus is continually calling us into community with Him and with others. We are continually called to be part of a faith community that allows the power of the Holy Spirit to move in us. We are continually called to be a part of a faith community that allows the agape love of Jesus to flow freely to all. We are continually called to be part of a faith community that glorifies and worships God. Today, may we find that community and learn to fully live in the power and love of Jesus.
