Ezekiel 18:21 (NIV): But if a wicked person turns away from all the sins they have committed and keeps all my decrees and does what is just and right, that person will surely live; they will not die.
Some days it seems like the choice is simple: do good or do harm. We get to make that choice every day of our lives. But if it was truly that simple, we would not have such a problem some days choosing good. I do not know about you, but I have definitely had times when the choice I made was wrong and harmful. At the time, it sometimes was a misinterpretation of the situation, but there were others where it was an intentional choice to harm. Those are not exactly proud moments in my life, and I have sought forgiveness for them. Through the years, I have learned how to try to live out of the patience needed to wait on God’s movement in the situation. I have very slowly learned that my initial reaction is not always the correct one. I have very slowly learned to give the situation over to the LORD and wait on God. I have very slowly learned to let the ways of the LORD our God to mold me. Living out of the love and mercy of the LORD our God is not always a simple task. It can really complicate things when we are not used to choosing God first. Today, may we learn to set ourselves aside and learn to live in the love and strength of the LORD our God.
