Daily Devotional 8/16/26
Psalm 62:2 (NKJV): He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be greatly moved.
The Hebrew word that is translated “moved” means “waver”. It contains the ideas of fall or slip. The word translated “greatly” means “abundant”. David reminds himself in verse one that it is God that his soul waits patiently for. It is God who is his rock and salvation. God is his defense. Because of the LORD, David reminds us that we will have the strength to not waver in our devotion to God. The LORD is unwavering in love and mercy for us. The LORD is unwavering in pursuing us with grace and peace. The LORD is unwavering in bringing us forgiveness and joy. Because of the LORD our God’s unwavering nature, we too can be unwavering in our devotion to living out of the love and strength that is so freely given to us. We too can abundantly give out of love to those in need of forgiveness and grace. We too can abundantly give out of mercy and wholeness to others and ourselves. Today, may we learn to more fully live a life of abundance rooted in the One who redeemed us and loves us eternally.
